We are pleased to share with you an update about the historic agreement to modernize California’s Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act of 1975 (or MICRA). Today, the Fairness for Injured Patients Act (FIPA) initiative was formally withdrawn by proponents and will not appear on the November ballot.

Historic Bill to Modernize California’s Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act Passes Assembly with Overwhelming Support With a 66 - 0 vote, AB 35 now moves to Governor’s desk Sacramento - Today, in a momentous vote, the Assembly passed AB 35 (Reyes, Umberg) 66 to 0. The bill, which modernizes California’s Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act (MICRA),  is scheduled to sign the bill into law on Monday, May 23rd, during a ceremony to commemorate this monumental effort.
