The CUA leadership was among the first in the nation to recognize the need for organized grass roots advocacy on behalf of patients and health policy leadership education forums for urologists.
CUA provides urologists with representation on state and national levels. On a state level, CUA acts as a "watch-dog" vigilantly watching out against attacks on our our freedom to practice and fighting burdensome regulations.
Mission
The California Urological Association is the largest state urological, non-profit organization that is dedicated to preserve and protect present and future Urological care for the people of California by means of education, representation, advocacy, legislative reform and leadership in various state and national health policy arenas.
Profile
The CUA was founded and incorporated in 1986, designated as a 501 (c) (6) organization. The total membership is currently 475, representing approximately 52% of the State’s board certified urologists. The membership of the CUA consists of urologists practicing in California who support the objectives and purposes of the Association.
The major objectives and purposes of the CUA shall be to preserve and protect present and future Urological care for the people of California by addressing the following socioeconomic issues:
- Quality of care
- Access to care
- Medical progress, development, implementation and economic support of new technology
In addition, the association may address any issue not specifically listed which is of importance to the membership. No part of any income shall ever inure to the benefit of any private member or individual.
